Community & Care
We believe that welcoming our neighbors and feeding the needy are not secondary ideas, but structural commands built deep within God's Word.

What the Bible Teaches Us About Community & Care
Our weekly outreach program is built upon a profound legacy running from the early Hebrew codes of structural justice to the gospel teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Law, Wisdom, & Prophets
Covenant Structural Justice
- • The Law of Giving & Dignity: In the Torah, God commanded that landowners explicitly leave the margins of their harvest fields unharvested. This systemic law ensured that immigrants, fatherless children, and widows could acquire clean food while retaining complete human dignity through community participation. (Leviticus 23:22, Deuteronomy 24:19-22).
- • The Wisdom of Kindness: Proberbs frame actions of kindness to poor individuals as directly visible marker of an active fear of God. To disregard an impoverished neighbor is an explicit insult to the sovereign Creator, whereas serving them counts as an act of personal worship. (Proverbs 14:31, Proverbs 19:17).
- • The Prophetic Call to True Worship: The prophets repeatedly asserted that empty religious ceremonies are offensive to God if detached from community justice. God redefines fasting from a mere religious ritual to acts of radical compassion, justice, and sharing bread with the hungry. (Isaiah 58:6-10, Ezekiel 16:49).
The Gospels & the Early Church
Incarnated Radical Compassion
- • The Example & Directive of Jesus Christ: Jesus consistently linked spiritual truths with physical healing and nourishment. When thousands faced fatigue in barren landscapes, Jesus didn't dismiss them; instead, He instructed His closest followers, "You give them something to eat," demonstrating that we are called to alleviate physical distress. (Matthew 14:13-21, Luke 14:12-14).
- • Giving and Final Judgment: In Matthew 25, Jesus links salvation with caring for others. He explains that whenever we provide food to the hungry or welcome the stranger, we are ministering to Him directly. (Matthew 25:34-40).
- • The Early Church Gave: After His resurection, early Christians shared all assets to completely eliminate structural lack. They even set apart an ordained group of deacons to run a fair, daily meal distribution program for widows and struggling individuals. (Acts 4:32-35, Acts 6:1-6).
The Sabbath Community Feeding Program
Following our Sabbath worship services, we take the theology we preach inside our historic sanctuary and bring it directly into our fellowship space. At 2:00 PM every Saturday, our doors open wide for our weekly feeding initiative.
This program is structured with an open heart to all. Whether you are navigating a season of financial hardship, experiencing a housing transition, or simply looking for warm neighborly connection, a hot kitchen meal and a safe seat are waiting for you.
